Good morning, fam!
Welp, yesterday was officially the first day of fall and it was a high of 65° which meant it was time to bust out the flannel.
Unfortunately, today’s high is 20 degrees higher (wop wah), but there’s absolutely no turning back. I’ll sweat my ass off if it means I get to rock long sleeves. I don’t give a f***!
(Steps outside and immediately goes back inside).
While I hang my head in defeat and go find a t-shirt, check out this week’s recs.
Pop some batteries in that Tickle Me Elmo, make a big bowl of Cocoa Puffs, and let’s get into it.
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I blew through Paper Girls: The Complete Story and damn, Brian K. Vaughan, the writer, can do no wrong. He also wrote Y: The Last Man, Saga, and a several other amazing stories. Even if you’re not a big comics fan, it’s 100% worth the read.
I also finished Industry season two this week and it’s got one of the biggest twists I’ve seen in a minute. It’s one of those shows where they take something as boring and nonsensical as investment banking and make it fun, edgy, and sexy. I already can’t wait for season three (fingers crossed!)
For movie night, we randomly went with This Is The End which, if you’ve never seen it, is probably the most meta movie there is. Seth Rogen and his friends play themselves or, at least, caricatures of themselves during the apocalypse and shit gets weird. The best part? Emma Watson kicking ass and and Michael Cera…snorting coke?!?
After trying the Peppermint Mocha, flavor, I went back to look for more Bizzy Cold Brew and Schnucks did not disappoint. I also got (wait for it)…Pumpkin Spice! And you thought I was done with all that PSL tomfoolery. Ya boy snatched it up quicker than a Turbo Man in Jingle All the Way.
During the very same grocery trip, I stumbled across my new favorite cider: Lo-Ball Barrel-Aged Highball Cider and picked up a four pack. I love me a dry cider and bonus! It’s made in whiskey barrels. What’s not to love?!
We got to try Edera, a local Italian eatery (Thanks Maddie and Peter!), for the first time and dear God it was amazing. We went with the Claims Piccata, the Brussels, and the pièce de résistance: their Smoked Octopus and Scallops. If you ever go, you have to get it. It was (wait for it again)…ink-redible! Get it? Get it?!
Any other GBBO fans out there? When I first saw “The Mighty Boosh” himself hosting, I could hardly believe it. After reading this, it’s all makes sense now.
Check out my “The 5 Love Languages of the Office.”
When does the weekend start? Whenever Daniel Craig says it does.
Sam Smith’s new single with Kim Petras is unholy and it fucking slaps.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
