Good morning, fam!
This week’s episode is gonna be a short one. We’re in Indianapolis for our company’s annual getaway and we’ve got sights to see, food to eat, and sports to…sport?
Enjoy these recs as I figure out what the hell a hoosier actually is.
Untangle that Stretch Armstrong, take out that Lunchables Breakfast, and let’s get into it!
Here’s what I have for you this morning:
I started Severance by Ling Ma and despite it not being source material for the amazing Apple TV+ series, it’s a been a great read so far. It’s an apocalyptic satire featuring a millennial, first-generation American who’s fumbling her way into adulthood. Sound relatable?
I just upgraded my Playstation Plus account which means you get a library of games to play for just…$10 a month?! First up was Rollerdrome. Imagine Jet Set Radio Future and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater, but with guns. This game is fun as hell and it has amazing art direction.
Next up was Mafia: Definitive Edition. It’s a remake of the original with wayyy better graphics. It’s basically Grand Theft Auto 5 if it was set during Prohibition with slower cars. Fun, but nothing groundbreaking.
Crooked Media just launched their newest shirt in their merch store and I jumped on it. This “Defund Bruce Wayne t-shirt” combines my two favorite things: My childhood love of Batman and my adult hatred of billionaires. ‘Nuff said.
We celebrated our friend Martha’s birthday with a backyard hang and Parker (her husband/my friend/one half of the sultans of sammies) made espresso martinis…with Casamigos tequila! 100% doing this from now on.
It doesn’t matter if you’re a coffee or tea person, this list of accessories has something for everyone. I can personally vouch for the Bodum french press and coffee cups.
Whether or not you’re a Studio Ghibli fan, this 30-minute nature loop from their movies is just the thing you need to chill out while everything around us is on fire.
Can any other book nerds out there relate to these six stages of having too many books?
Speaking of which, check out the finalists for the National Book Award.
Here’s some great advice on getting feedback for a creative project.
You made it to the end! As a bonus, I’ll leave you with this.
Cheers,
Billy
