Welcome to Billy’s Substack!
Think of it as a warm blanket of words that will keep you cozy as you stress out about work. Or life. Or a little bit of both. Either way, I’m here to help!
Hey there! Who are you?
Nice to meet you! I’m Billy Frazier. I live in St. Louis. I’m a thirtysomething millennial. I like making weird sounds with my mouth next to four guys who can sing. I like finding gluten-free blueberry cake donuts that aren’t gross. I like brainstorming bad business ideas with friends, coffee chats with strangers, weekly movie nights, reading and writing (almost) every day, fumbling my way through a new city with my wife, and giving/receiving recs on almost any book, movie, series, cartoon, video game, podcast, Twitter thread, snack, or cocktail I can get my grubby little hands on.
Why subscribe to my writing?
Over the course of my career, I’ve had a strange relationship with work.
I started freelancing right out of college and (somehow) kept going for almost a decade. I co-founded a company or two with friends. Now, I currently work full-time at an international consulting firm where I work with some of the biggest companies in the world.
And you know what?
I still have no idea how to answer the question:
“What do you want to be when you grow up?”
Like most things in life, I’m not alone.
The more of you I meet, the more I hear stories of dead end jobs, crappy bosses, and the ongoing search for something more.
As I continue to explore my own answer to this question, I’m sharing what I learn with you all.
The thing is, there is already a metric crap ton of career advice online from “thought leaders” and “career consultants” but if you ask me, it’s all drab and boring.
This is why when you subscribe to my Substack, you’ll find writing you can’t get anywhere else, including:
Career advice that doesn’t suck - Think of it as those old-timey advice columns in the newspaper but you know, on the internet….and funny.
People You Meet - A series of posts making fun of the people you meet while navigating the world of work.
Saturday Morning Cartoons - A weekly roundup of the ridiculous amount of content I consume. Some of it might be my own ;)
